A Glimmer of Hope | Genesis 5:1-32

Pastor Anton Brown - 10/30/2022

Sermon Outline:

Big Idea: Death comes to everyone, but anyone in Christ has the hope of eternal life with God.

  1. Death reigns.
  2. Hope for the righteous.
  3. Hope for a refrain.

Bible Fellowship Group Questions:

  1. Read Genesis 2:16-17 and discuss what verses 1-31 mean in view of what God says. What do the verses say about God?
  2. How should we live in response to this? Consider Psalm 39:4-6 and Psalm 90:12.
  3. What is the good news about death’s end? (See 1 Cor 15:26)
  4. What does Enoch’s transfer from his earthly life to his heavenly one tell us about what might have been normal had Adam and Eve not sinned in Eden?
  5. Jude 14 mentions that Enoch prophesied of the Lord’s return. What else, then, does Enoch’s life prefigure and what hope does that give us who believe?
  6. How can you obtain the righteousness needed to for your salvation? See Romans 3:23, 6:23, 10:0, 8:1; Philippians 3:9.
  7. What does Lamech look forward to in verses 28-29?
  8. What God began in the generations of Adam culminated in our redemption in the Last Adam, Jesus Christ. Where did the plan of redemption begin if Jesus is the Last Adam? (Jesus is referred to as the last Adam in 1 Cor 15:45)

Pray for one another.
