Your Next Steps after the Baptism Training Video
After completing the baptism training video, you'll want to take the following steps to become a member at Mayflower Church.
1. Answer a Few Questions about Baptism
Before moving forward, it's essential to reflect on the lessons you've learned from the baptism training video. Take some time to answer a few questions about baptism and share them with me. Please send your reflections by email or give me a copy personally.
- What is the purpose of baptism in the Christian faith?
- How does baptism symbolize the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ?
- What personal commitment are you making when you choose to be baptized?
As you answer these questions, you'll gain a deeper understanding of baptism's significance and your commitment to Christ.
2. Complete a Membership Application
After reflecting on the meaning of baptism, you'll want to complete a membership application to become a member of our church family. I will send the application to you when I receive your reflections on the baptism training above. The membership application will ask for basic information about yourself, your personal testimony of faith in Christ, and your commitment to our church's vision and mission. Please email your application to me or give it to me personally.
Acts 2:41 ESV says, "So those who received his word were baptized, and there were added that day about three thousand souls." By completing the membership application, you're taking an important step towards joining a community of believers who will support and encourage you in your faith journey.
3. Schedule a Membership Interview with Two Elders
The final step is to have a membership interview with two elders from our church. I will arrange this once I receive your completed application. This interview serves as an opportunity for you to share your testimony, ask any questions, and receive guidance as you prepare for baptism and membership in our church.
Hebrews 10:24-25 ESV says, "And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near." The membership interview is a vital step in connecting with our church community and fostering relationships that will help you grow in your faith.
What about scheduling my baptism?
Once you have completed the previous steps, I will contact you to schedule your baptism. Baptisms at Mayflower always take place on Sunday mornings during the worship service, providing a wonderful opportunity to share your testimony with the church and friends and family you have invited that day. As you prepare to declare your faith publicly, know that we eagerly anticipate rejoicing with you on this special day.
In Christ,
Pastor Anton
