Nursery Team

Our current children's ministry is focused on infants to age four in our church nursery.  

  1. Arrive 20 minutes before the service starts.
  2. Make sure the room is picked up, surfaces clean, and play supplies are available.
  3. Greet parent(s) warmly.
  4. Label diaper bags or other belongings with masking tape and marker.
  5. Make sure you know the child’s name and take note of special toys they may be holding.
  6. Discuss diaper changes, toilet training status, and food needs/allergies with parents.
  7. Find out if parents want to be contacted during the service for diaper changes/potty trips; crying spells.
  8. Give the parents a pager.
  9. During the service, keep the child engaged in safe and fun play.
  10. If there is more than one child, watch for aggression.
  11. Attempt to console a crying child by cuddling, diverting attention, rocking, etc.
  12. If a child is inconsolable, page the parents.
  13. Follow parents’ instructions for food, toilet needs.
  14. For older children, encourage them to help with clean-up as the service ends.
  15. Only release children to their parents.
  16. Report honestly to parents how the child did during care.
  17. Make sure the child has everything they came with.
  18. Call the child by name when you say goodbye.
  19. After everyone has left, clean up trash, broken toys. Put toys back where they belong.
  20. If toys have been in a child’s mouth, disinfectant and leave them on the sink-board to dry.
  21. Report needed supplies to the Team Leader.
