Nursery Team
Our current children's ministry is focused on infants to age four in our church nursery.
- Arrive 20 minutes before the service starts.
- Make sure the room is picked up, surfaces clean, and play supplies are available.
- Greet parent(s) warmly.
- Label diaper bags or other belongings with masking tape and marker.
- Make sure you know the child’s name and take note of special toys they may be holding.
- Discuss diaper changes, toilet training status, and food needs/allergies with parents.
- Find out if parents want to be contacted during the service for diaper changes/potty trips; crying spells.
- Give the parents a pager.
- During the service, keep the child engaged in safe and fun play.
- If there is more than one child, watch for aggression.
- Attempt to console a crying child by cuddling, diverting attention, rocking, etc.
- If a child is inconsolable, page the parents.
- Follow parents’ instructions for food, toilet needs.
- For older children, encourage them to help with clean-up as the service ends.
- Only release children to their parents.
- Report honestly to parents how the child did during care.
- Make sure the child has everything they came with.
- Call the child by name when you say goodbye.
- After everyone has left, clean up trash, broken toys. Put toys back where they belong.
- If toys have been in a child’s mouth, disinfectant and leave them on the sink-board to dry.
- Report needed supplies to the Team Leader.
