Trust and Obedience | Hebrews 3:7-4:13

Sermon Outline:

Big Idea: The promise of Christ’s peace and rest belongs to those who are determined to enter it in faith, trust, and obedience to God’s Word.

  1. Warning against unbelief. (3:7-19).
  2. Warning against disobedience (4:1-10).
  3. Aim to enter the Sabbath rest (4:11-13).


Bible Fellowship Group Study Questions:

  1. Hebrews 3:12 warns against an unbelieving heart that leads to falling away from God. In what ways do you see unbelief creeping into your life? How can you actively guard your heart against it?
  2. Hebrews 3:13 calls us to exhort one another daily. How are you currently encouraging fellow believers to remain faithful? What practical steps can you take to be more intentional in this area?
  3. The passage repeatedly stresses the urgency of responding to God today (Hebrews 3:7, 3:15, 4:7). Are there areas where you have been delaying obedience? What steps will you take to respond immediately to His voice?
  4. Hebrews 4:11 calls us to strive to enter God's rest. What does that look like in your daily life? Are you resting in God's promises, or are you striving in your own strength?
  5. Hebrews 4:12 describes God's Word as living and active, able to discern the thoughts and intentions of the heart. How has Scripture recently convicted or encouraged you? How can you ensure you are regularly engaging with the Bible in a way that transforms your heart?
  6. The Israelites failed to enter God's rest due to unbelief and disobedience (Hebrews 3:19, 4:6). How does true faith lead to obedience in your life? What specific actions can you take this week to align your life more fully with God's commands?
